At Hafiz Mustafa, we are committed to ensuring that every cup of our Turkish coffee is of the highest quality. We use natural Foça stones from the Foça mountains, which are fed by the waters of the Aegean Sea, to grind our coffee to perfection. This not only enhances the aroma and flavor but also allows us to maintain the same consistency from one batch to the next, ensuring that each cup is as delicious as the last.

HOW TO PREPARE TURKISH COFFEE?
  1. Add water to cezve: Measure the amount of water you need based on the number of cups you want to make, and add it to a small pot called a “cezve.” You can add sugar to the water if you prefer your coffee sweet.
  2. Add Hafiz Mustafa Turkish Coffee: Add one heaping teaspoon of the finely ground Hafiz Mustafa Turkish Coffee per cup of water to the cezve.
  3. Heat the cezve: Place the cezve over medium-low heat and stir the mixture with a spoon until the coffee starts to dissolve.
  4. Bring to a boil: As the coffee begins to dissolve, continue to stir and heat the mixture until it comes to a boil. Be sure to watch the cezve closely to avoid boiling over.
  5. Remove from heat: Once the coffee comes to a boil, remove the cezve from the heat and let it sit for a minute or so to allow the coffee grounds to settle at the bottom.
  6. Pour and serve: Using a spoon, scoop out the foam on top of the coffee and place it into the cups. Then, slowly pour the coffee into the cups, being careful not to disturb the settled grounds at the bottom. Allow the coffee to cool for a few minutes before serving.

THE PLACE OF TURKISH COFFEE IN TURKISH CULTURE

Turkish coffee is a traditional method of brewing coffee that has been enjoyed for centuries in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. This unique method of coffee preparation involves finely ground coffee beans that are boiled in a pot called a “cezve” with water and sugar, if desired. The result is a strong and rich coffee with a thick foam on top.

One of the defining features of Turkish coffee is the fine grind of the beans. The coffee is ground to a powder-like consistency, much finer than what is used for drip or French press coffee. This fine grind allows for maximum extraction of flavor and caffeine from the beans.

Another unique aspect of Turkish coffee is the use of a cezve, a small pot with a long handle. The cezve is typically made of copper or brass and is used to heat the coffee over a low flame. The long handle allows for easy pouring, and the copper or brass material helps to distribute heat evenly.

When preparing Turkish coffee, the ground coffee, water, and sugar (if desired) are added to the cezve and heated until it reaches a boil. The coffee is then removed from the heat and allowed to settle for a moment before being served. The thick foam on top is a hallmark of a well-prepared cup of Turkish coffee.

One of the most important aspects of drinking Turkish coffee is taking the time to savor it slowly. The strong and rich flavor of the coffee should be appreciated, and the thick foam provides a unique texture. It is also traditional to serve Turkish coffee with a glass of cold water to cleanse the palate.

In Turkey, drinking coffee is an essential social tradition and is often shared with friends and family. It is also considered to be a symbol of hospitality, and it is common for hosts to offer their guests a cup of Turkish coffee as a sign of welcome.
