Hafiz Mustafa Steals the Spotlight In Cannes

The 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival was an affair to remember, held in the iconic coastal city of Cannes from May 14 to 25. The festival, one of the largest and most prestigious in the cinematic world, saw 22 films vying for the coveted Palme d’Or. The grandeur of the festival was further accentuated by the surprise of Hafiz Mustafa, who brought a delightful touch to Cannes. 

A Star-Studded Opening Night

The festival started in style at the Croisette building, with its majestic red-carpeted stairs. French actress Camille Cottin, who has been making waves in the USA, hosted the opening night, setting the tone for an event filled with glamour.

The red carpet was graced by stars including Meryl Streep, Francis Ford Coppola, Catherine Deneuve, Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Kevin Costner, Richard Gere, Adam Driver, Lea Seydoux, François Civil, Adele Exarchopoulos, Pierre Niney, Selena Gomez, Chris Hemsworth, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sebastian Stan, Emma Stone, Joe Alwyn, and Zoe Saldana.

The Awards Night Highlights

The awards night was a culmination of the festival’s spirit. American director Sean Baker bagged the Golden Palm Award for his film “Anora.” In a festival first, the ‘Best Actress’ award was shared by three actresses from the movie “Emilia Perez” – Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Selena Gomez.

Greta Gerwig, an acclaimed American filmmaker and actress, presided over the jury. Screenwriter, photographer, and writer Ebru Ceylan also lent her expertise as part of the jury panel.
